Description:
There are millions of young men just like Miles Davis in this country. They have no future and no hope, not many morals, but they love their mama. Davis loves his mama, that’s why he takes his mentally-challenged uncle, Skip, to school every day.
This particular day is going to be different than the rest. Davis’ car finally breathes its last and he’s forced to jack a car, kidnapping the driver and tossing her in the trunk. After all, he’s gotta get Skip to school. He promised his mama.
And then he’s gotta the girl. He’s gotta. If he doesn’t, she’ll get him caught and then who’s gonna take Skip to school?
The last thing that Davis expects is to learn that the future of the world depends on him. The very last thing.
---
We can see each other because we happen to emit energy at a wavelength within that tiny area of the spectrum. If your atoms were to become excited so that you began to emit energy at the same speed as gamma rays, I would not be able to see you. You could stand right next to me and I would have no idea you were there. Because your atoms were moving so much faster than mine, I could walk right through you.
In the world of 8 Lying On Its Side, human beings stumble blindly through the energy that is those who have gone before and those who are yet to come. Life on earth is far from the be-all and end-all. Rather, it is a detention center, a laboratory, if you will, an arena into which energies can be temporarily born into a human body in order to study things, learn lessons, explore.
There is - was - is a Creator. For the sake of simplicity we will assign to the Creator the male gender - but only because that is not what this is about. But maybe the only thing he created is this experiment in human “life.” Maybe he’s just the headmaster of the school. Maybe not.
The time is modern day. And maybe too late.
